Leave your car at Les Deux-Alpes. Take the Jandri cable car up to an altitude of 3200m. From Cuculet, you can ride down the road to the Mont-de-Lans cable car that will bring you back to the resort.

This is a varied and quite hard route, with spectacular views over the valley. Although the Col des Gourses requires a good technique, the route is suitable for intermediary riders.
Take the Jandri express cable car up to an altitude of 3200m from Les Deux-Alpes and roughly follow the line of the cable car on the forest track. 700m further on, where there is a break in the slope, take the canyon to the left which, carefully hewn out, looks a bit like a giant border cross. Iron posts mark the entrance.
From here, there is a superb view over the Muzelle and its glacier. Ride to the small Serre-Palas lake, which you leave to your left to ride the two or three minutes up to the col.
Drop down 200m from the col, leave the forest track near the Jandri pylon where there is a break in the slope. The shale and sand terrain is pleasant to bike on. Follow the line of the Jandri to a black and white weather marker to which snow sensors have been fitted. Go off to the right from the marker and go down extraordinary glens of shale sand to the grassy bottom.
Once on the flat, turn off onto a path on the left. This is a very steep section, where the less experienced can easily walk.
Coming out into a small valley, take the single track that runs along the mountain side. Go over a small col to the cable car, which you leave to the right. On your left, you will see the start of another cable car. Go down this track, taking care not to miss the path down to the shepherd’s hut below (the path starts between two black and white poles).
From the shepherd’s hut, go down the path to a bridge, taking care on the slippery stones in wet weather! It’s an easy ride to the opposite slope and the ridge. Once on the ridge, you just need to follow the pastoral path, which then winds its way down pleasantly to Cuculet. From Cuculet, turn left onto the road and enjoy the gradual 10-minute ride up to the Mont-de-Lans cable car (at the end of the village, in front of the ‘syndicat d’initiative’).
Please note: in Cuculet, don’t ride your bike down the steps to get to the road as this exasperates the villagers. Leave them in peace!
