ORGANISATION

Leave your car at the Oz-en-Oisans resort car park. Take the Poutran cable car up to the middle station.

IN BRIEF

The Poutran trail is an incredible playground that features in both the French Cup and the French Championship. The route stands out for its sheer verticality and 530 m length. Downhill riders can really make the most of the centrifugal force effect when tackling successions of parabolic curves and rocky sections.

DESCRIPTION

Leave the Poutran cable car at the 1880 m middle station and take the path cut into the rock to the right. Ride down through the multitude of vertiginous rocky slabs and banked curves. This is a demanding descent that will delight freeriders looking to gain confidence in a range of situations.

BACKGROUND

The resort of Oz-en-Oisans is located in the heart of the Massif des Grandes Rousses MTB area, which features 250 km of way-marked trails at altitudes of between 730 and 3330 m that delight lovers of wide open spaces. Both beginners and experienced riders will find what they’re looking for among the many routes on offer at Oz-en-Oisans.

Oz first embarked on the MTB venture in 2003 by organizing an MTB rally with the support of the UCC, which went on to become the Avalanche Cup the following year and a qualifying event for the famous Megavalanche. Oz kept on rolling and hosted the first ‘Coupe de France’ in August 2004. Since the summer of 2007, French Cups and the French Championships have been held here to the delight of top downhill riders who compete on this now-legendary run.
