From the Chambon dam, follow the D25 to Besse-en-Oisans. Leave your car at the car park in the village, buy some delicious bread for your picnic from the traditional bakery and you’re all set!

The light of the Emparis Plateau crowned by the Meije massif, Besse nestled in the hollow of the valley, a lovely hairpin descent… what else could you ask for!

DESCRIPTION

Starting from the Besse-en-Oisans car park, opposite the bakery, go down to the GR54, following ‘Le Plateau d’Emparis’. Then take the track which goes off to the right from the entrance to the GR path. The climb is steady, on easy terrain. Once on the Mizoën pastoral path, turn left to join the GR path 100m lower, which goes down to Besse. This path has been renovated and is well-maintained, offering an entertaining descent on shale ground with natural banking.
