La Vallée Blanche N°23

Les 2 Alpes > Mont-de-Lans > Les 2 Alpes

ORGANISATION

The trip back to Les Deux Alpes is via the Mont-de-Lans cable car.
For more information, call 04 76 79 22 00.

IN BRIEF

This easy trail is a great introduction to downhills for children and beginners. The first part follows fenced-off downhill tracks with hairpin bends, and ends up on a pleasant forest trail.

DESCRIPTION

Take the Vallée Blanche cable car at the entrance to Les Deux Alpes and follow either the red or green mountain-bike downhill track. The red is more technical and is intended for experienced mountain bikers, but they are both out of bounds to walkers. For your own security and that of other users, never stop in the middle of the track. If you fall off or have a problem with your bike, get out of the way quickly!

You arrive back at the cable car departure point. Turn left onto the road and follow it for 200 m, before turning right towards Petit-Plan. 100 m further on, take a left hand turn. There is a signpost for Bons - Mont-de-Lans. Keep right at the gate, and follow a rutted downhill section. Rejoin the path (signposted).

In the forest, at the Mont-de-Lans - Bons junction, turn right for Mont-de-Lans. A short, steep section leads you to the pleasant fast-riding path that brings you out at the departure point of the Mont-de-Lans cable car.

A BIT OF HISTORY

Once upon a time, a ‘Gargantua’ lived in Oisans - a giant with an enormous appetite. It was he who shaped the mountains of Pied-Moutet and La Rochette, so that he could put one foot on each and drink the clear water of the Vénéon river, without getting wet.
