The Oisans mountains are very familiar to cycling enthusiasts.
Oisans hosts spectacular mountain bike competitions such as "Megavalanche" (the longest MTB downhill race in the world, starting on the Alpe-d’Huez glacier and finishing 30 km and 2 800 metres further down, in the centre of the village of Allemont) or the “Mountain of Hell”, a free ride downhill race in Les 2 Alpes.
Oisans is also synonymous with legendary Tour de France mountain stages. Alpe-d’Huez, Les 2 Alpes and Bourg-d’Oisans have left their mark on this race, and are part of its living legend. The most renowned cycling races in the Alps (including the famous "Marmotte") are put on for the Oisans Trophy.
